    I was a losing punter.
    Then I built a system.

    Like most punters, I started out backing favourites, following tips, and hoping for the best. I had no idea what expected value meant, no staking system, and no way of knowing if my bets had any edge at all. I was losing — and I didn't know why.

    Everything changed when I stopped gambling and started treating betting like a business. I built my own positional based strategy for horse racing, AFL, NRL and MLB. For horse racing I price my own markets — for sports I use a positional based strategy to find value against the bookmaker. Either way, the edge is systematic. The results followed.

What matters is that you set aside an amount you are genuinely comfortable losing. Not because you are going to lose it all, but that is the mindset you need to have going in. It keeps you disciplined, removes emotion from your decisions, and means you are never betting money you cannot afford to lose.
    Is sports betting legal in Australia?
